As Brand & Innovation Manager – Baking, you will play a vital role in driving ambitious growth for the Baking & Beverages portfolio to cater to the needs of today’s modern cooks and bakers. As a top 3 supplier in this category, you will be working across and championing some of Britain’s most loved brands within this £31m RSV portfolio which includes brands such as McDougalls – the no 1 flour brand, Hovis, and driving forward the no 1 and no 2 cake brands, Mr Kipling and Cadbury.
This multi-faceted role provides a rare opportunity within Premier Foods to be responsible for both the development and implementation of brand growth strategies but also end to end innovation pipeline development and deployment across multiple sales channels. Working closely with R&D, Commercial, Insight & Shopper Marketing teams and have regular exposure to the UK Grocery Leadership team and line management experience.
This is a great opportunity for a candidate who can demonstrate solid brand marketing and/or Innovation experience who puts consumer insight at the heart of everything we do, balanced with excellent strategic thinking, a performance-orientated mindset with strong commercial awareness and a “can-do” attitude.
What we need from you....
1. Min 3 years branded marketing management in commercially aware FMCG environment.
2. Proven track-record of innovation development, commercialisation and in market launch.
3. Strong bias for action and high degree of personal accountability and takes pride in their output.
4. Can get the best out of others with a collaborative and inclusive style.
5. Demonstrates strategic thinking, ‘gets’ consumers and places them at the core of everything that they do.
6. Commercially astute with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Communicates plans that will motivate, builds commitment and excites the business.
8. Hungry for winning and personal development with future job role potential beyond this role available.
9. UK-market experience desired.
10. A passion for food and if you can bake, brilliant, but not essential!
What you'll be doing...
Financials and business analysis:
11. P&L management and accountable for the delivery of agreed profit, turnover, share and innovation targets.
12. Monitoring and analysing external business performance; including external market performance and competitor activity identifying risks and opportunities to create actionable insights to inform ongoing plans.
Innovation and Project management :
13. Pivotal role in the development of the category innovation strategy and lead development and commercialisation of innovation projects via Stage Gate process to create long term value, therefore P&L understanding is key.
14. Developing launch plans and working with Commercial to develop compelling retailer sell-in stories.
Brand Planning
15. Support the creation and delivery of 3-year category growth strategies and annual plans across channels, with true ownership across several key strategic pillars.
16. Responsible for implementing the annual Winning Plan across owned portfolio areas.
Brand communications:
17. Lead BTL activity such as in-store and shopper marketing, co-ordinating brand communication materials such as in-store POS, website and images for external customers.
18. Lead any activation campaigns e.g. digital on ad hoc basis and tracking KPIs to understand ROI.
Day to day brand and product management:
19. Work cross functionally to build and execute strong commercial plans across owned areas, including presenting directly to buyers to influence ranging decisions, and working to improve quality of in-store execution.
20. Form strong connections cross-functionally within the business, specifically with Finance, Operations, Packaging and R&D teams, to lead successful market delivery of winning products.
21. Responsible for the management of consumer marketing spend.
22. A key member of the team who will have line management experience developing and coaching graduates.
