Catering Tutor

Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
We are looking for a Catering Tutor to join our education team at HMP Dovegate, a Category B prison. In this role, you will manage the on-site café and training kitchen, delivering barista training and food preparation sessions to small groups. Occupational experience in catering is essential, and we are open to supporting the right candidate in gaining assessor qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver barista training and food preparation sessions
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to learners’ needs
* Maintain accurate learner records, including attendance and progress
* Ensure high-quality learning experiences with varied teaching methods
* Support learners in gaining relevant qualifications
* Promote a positive and professional learning environment
* Collaborate with colleagues to enhance education programmes
* Comply with security and safeguarding requirements within the prison
What You Need
* Experience working in catering or hospitality
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds
* GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or equivalent)
* Teaching or assessor qualifications are desirable but not essential
* Experience in a custodial or similar environment is an advantage
