An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered, ambitious, self-motivated Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services team at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals in our Clinical Trials department on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
You will work as part of our dedicated Clinical Trials dispensary team alongside other technicians, pharmacists, assistants and apprentices providing support services to the clinical trial research teams.
You will act as a point of contact for clinical research associates, investigators and research staff, playing a key role in setting up trials and the day-to-day maintenance of studies at all hospitals within our Trust.
You will assist with managing all aspects of the technical pharmacy clinical trials service and contribute to its future development as we build our two new hospitals in the city.
Main duties of the job
This is a varied role where you will be able to use your leadership skills to support the development of the junior members of the team and manage the daily workflow.
You will rely on your comprehensive technical knowledge to manage the pharmacy requirements for handling medicinal products (dispensing, accuracy checking, drug accountability, storage, disposal of medicinal products and monitoring visits).
You will support the set-up process for clinical trials within pharmacy by creating, implementing and maintaining procedures to ensure that all trials are conducted in accordance with the highest possible standards, and in compliance with the principles of GCP (Good Clinical Practice).
Experience in clinical trials would be an advantage; however, it is not a requirement as all necessary training will be provided, and we will support you through a structured learning pathway.
This post will involve working across all sites at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
