Role Overview:
The Senior Civil Engineer will focus on highways, access roads, and temporary/enabling works design. The role involves conducting due diligence, feasibility studies, conceptual optioneering, detailed design (both pre- and post-planning), and design and build through construction. The candidate will also handle technical approvals and statutory approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise in industry-standard road and drainage design software and familiarity with current design standards.
- Design Focus: Emphasis on road design per the 'National Road Development Guide' and local authority standards.
- Technical Approvals: Obtain approvals including RCC and S56.
- Report Production: Generate technical reports as required.
- Highway Drainage: Design principles for highway drainage, surface water, and foul drainage systems.
- Approvals & Regulations: Secure statutory approvals with Scottish Water (SW) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
- Software Proficiency: Experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microdrainage is beneficial.
- Standards Knowledge: Understanding of the ‘Design Manual for Roads and Bridges’ (DMRB).
