We are happy to discuss flexible working What this role is all about: Our Software Engineers play a critical role in Vitality’s successful business model by building and maintaining software solutions. This will result in offering brilliant products with seamless, intuitive customer journeys. You will be assigned to projects that require enhancements to mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms. Your key areas of focus will be the application features and functionality, and contributing to, and maintaining, a modular application architecture. The Principal Software Engineer leads and plans development across large or multiple teams, providing expertise in many technical areas or specialisms. They are fully competent in two specialisms and are working towards competency in a third specialism. Key Actions Implement the software development life cycle : build, maintain, test, deliver, release and document user-friendly and customer centric software solutions, as required Deliver to standards: Understand, adhere to and apply Vitality’s defined technical and process standards. You will ensure the effective management of risks and the protection of Vitality’s data Provide integrated solutions : Ensure solutions are user-focused, strategically aligned and effectively integrated across multiple teams and platforms to ensure the business needs are met Engage stakeholders. Collaborate, work with and develop an understanding of the needs and requirements of both internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve the desired outcomes Collaborate within and across teams. Work effectively together with others across varying areas of expertise to achieve the required results Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role: Demonstrable experience working as a Software Engineer using a range of different frontend and backend technologies, specifically related to mobile applications Demonstrable expertise in native mobile application development for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin/Java), understanding technical and operational capabilities including build, test and deployment strategies Assured communicator - able to present complex technical issues in a clear manner to technical and non-technical audiences Experience of Agile Methodology Work independently and collaborate effectively across the organization.
