Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of Design to join the dynamic team within our new fintech Zing account. As the leader of the design function, you’ll oversee and shape the full design landscape—from User Experience to Marketing Design, ensuring the brand and product maintain a consistent and elevated standard. You will be responsible for developing the creative vision, leading squads across Product Design, Visual Design, Creative Strategy, Brand Guardianship, Marketing Design, Research, and Copywriting.
You’ll play a crucial role in driving innovation, mentoring and managing a multi-disciplinary team while ensuring that design quality and consistently aligns with business goals and customer needs. Ideally, you’ll have a deep understanding of the fintech/financial services industry and a proven track record in mobile apps.
Your Responsibilities
* Brand Guardianship & Strategy: You will own the brand vision and ensure its consistent application across all platforms, from product to marketing. You’ll brand design integrity, evolving and adapting it as the product grows.
* Design System Ownership: Own and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency across products, features, and marketing collateral across all platforms. Manage design system governance and guide its application across teams.
* Cross-functional Leadership: Lead design efforts across multiple teams, including strategy, planning, and design system management, ensuring smooth collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams.
* Design Ceremonies & Critiques: Lead regular design critiques, planning sessions.
* Design thinking advocation: You help to influence product teams and tribes to improve the user & customer experience through design thinking practices.
* Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and mentor a diverse team of designers across different levels of seniority, helping them identify growth opportunities, refine their craft, and deliver their best work. Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
* Visual Marketing Design: Oversee the creation of compelling visual marketing assets and ensure the design team effectively supports the business’s go-to-market strategy with high-quality, on-brand content across web, social and other marketing channels.
* Stakeholder Management: Present design strategies and solutions effectively to senior management and stakeholders, influencing decisions and aligning them with business objectives.
* Hiring & Scaling the Team: Actively recruit, grow, and structure a design team capable of delivering at a high level across both product and marketing, scaling as the business evolves.
* Quality Control & Attention to Detail: Hold the design team accountable for excellence and detail across all design touchpoints. You will ensure that the execution of designs meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and functionality.
* Champion Design Innovation: Foster a culture of creativity and experimentation within the team, constantly challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Requirements
* Comprehensive Design Expertise: A well-rounded design skillset covering both product and brand design, with demonstrated experience in delivering across UX/UI, marketing assets, and multi-channel campaigns.
* Proven Brand Leadership: Demonstrated experience in brand guardianship and ensuring consistent application across product and marketing channels.
* Leadership Experience: Proven success in managing, mentoring, and developing a multi-disciplinary design team across UX, UI, Visual Design, and Marketing. Experience in setting up effective team structures and processes.
* Experience with Design Systems: Proven ability to design, manage, and extend complex design systems, maintaining consistency and elevating the overall product experience.
* Strong Eye for Detail: Impeccable attention to design detail, able to balance the demands of business and user experience, and uphold high-quality standards across all design work.
* Ceremony Facilitation: Experience running design critiques, planning sessions, and maintaining alignment on design standards across a fast-paced organisation.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: A deep understanding of how design impacts business goals in collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams. Experience removing blockers and driving alignment.
* Fintech/Financial Services Experience: Previous experience designing for fintech, mobile apps, or data-driven environments.
* Strategic & Conceptual Thinking: Able to think at a high level, setting the direction for both product experience and brand vision while translating business objectives into design initiatives.
