Outreach Mentor
Advert
Estuary Academy Island opened in September 2024. This school will initially provide education for up to 115 students. Our school will offer a broad and balanced learning journey for students in Years 7 – 11 with a range of vocational qualifications as well as traditional GCSEs in core subjects. Our aim is to provide pathways which lead to exciting onward opportunities in education or workplaces. We strive to ensure that all our students receive additional opportunities in school to become responsible, respectful, and active citizens who are able to play their part and become actively involved in public life as adults. We pride ourselves on our collaborative work with our local communities and aim to establish this quickly in Sheppey, providing a long-awaited invaluable education provision for the Island community.
Estuary Academy Island is a cross-phase pupil referral unit which offers a range of long-term and short-term placements.
Pupils referred to us often present with challenging social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties, disaffection, and low levels of attendance. Our job is to address these issues, support students in developing strategies to overcome their difficulties, and transfer successfully either back into mainstream school or to move forward to further education.
Our expectations for our students are high, and staff working within the organization promote aspirational goals while maintaining clear behavioral boundaries.
We are currently seeking an Outreach Mentor to support students either on short-term respite placements or accessing long-term Key Stage 4 provision. Experience and commitment to working with challenging young people alongside firm professional boundaries are prerequisites for these posts.
