Join us as a Technical Officer and contribute to groundbreaking work that supports biosecurity, diagnostics, and research Your Day-to-Day will include: Collecting and preparing soil and plant samples for chemical and biological testing. Conducting routine lab procedures, including microscopy, basic chemistry and sample preparation. Maintaining plant and soil samples with care and precision, including data collection and storage. Assisting with fieldwork and research activities predominantly at the Tamworth Agricultural Institute (TAI), the Liverpool Plains Field Station (LPFS), the Australian Cotton Research Institute (ACRI) and trial sites near Tamworth and Narrabri. ⚙️ Ensuring quality standards are met every step of the way. What You'll Bring: Expertise in cereal and pulse agronomy (especially in relation to dryland winter cropping), experience in the operation of machinery used to establish and asses plot trials, intermediate skills in microbiology, experience running glasshouse studies, general laboratory skills, the ability to show initiative and work independently when required and more. (Experience in pulse/rhizobia interactions? Even better) A knack for working safely and independently in a field, laboratory and glasshouse setting. ️ Strong IT Skills. A current NSW Driver License and the flexibility to travel overnight for fieldwork at rural trial sites. A qualification that meets the Technical Staff Award standards.
