Our client is a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in the North East, operating as a sub-contractor for most of the major and regional housebuilders, as well as other market sectors.
The company has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for a step up in responsibility and to gain invaluable experience to progress their career with a highly reputable company, within a high standards and high rewards environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Controlling costs of groundworks projects to ensure they are running efficiently, effectively, profitably, and safely.
2. Measure all site works accurately.
3. Provide early cost advice to clients on variations.
4. Identify commercial risks and provide appropriate solutions/responses.
5. Undertake cost analysis working with Company buyers and advise on procurement/cost control.
6. Produce a range of cost value reports.
7. Value completed work, ensuring timely payments.
8. Understand the importance of cash flow and timely payments, including retention payments.
9. Build strong relationships with client staff and company production staff.
10. Allocate work to sub-contractors including assistance with procurement when required.
11. Assist with the development of any assistants/trainees.
Experience Required:
1. Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience as Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
2. Experience of working for a Residential Groundworks sub-contractor.
3. Knowledge of contractual terms within groundworks.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills.
5. Effective communicator (written and verbal).
6. Identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
7. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
8. Team player.
9. Ability to establish and build positive relationships.
