Project Engineer - Permanent role - ASAP start - £50k - £60k PA (Depending on experience) - EU Passport essential
The Role:
This role of Project Engineer is primarily to work with specific customers to ensure the smooth running of projects. Additionally, there may be a requirement to continue in the role of Senior Installation Engineer, depending on workloads. This role also requires extensive travel within Europe, with the need to stay away for periods of time.
The Project Engineer (PE) will be part of a team, which as a group will perform the duties to install Security Systems at customer premises.
Generally, this role is to supervise the workforce, be the senior installation engineer, and ensure full compliance with the design/specifications on any project. On occasion, the role will also involve project managing and installing any smaller orders that the company receives through either the Service or Installation Department when in country or on a site already.
The role requires a great deal of initiative, autonomy, and client liaison. Flexibility is essential in adapting to future changes within the company and fluctuations within the workload. The role will include the supervision of other engineers, subcontractors, or junior engineers and will be expected to actively manage, train, and guide these persons.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties will be based upon all or part of the following:
1. The Operations Director/Manager (OD/OM) will allocate new projects to the Projects Manager (PM) and PE, after a project review. The PE alongside the project manager as a close team will then be responsible for the planning, scheduling, installation, and handover of the project.
2. On receipt of a new job file, the PE will review the project to ensure that they are fully conversant with the contract conditions and documents. The PE will also ensure that the equipment specified constitutes a working and suitable system in liaison with the Salesman and the Customer. Where necessary, any queries will be resolved at this stage.
3. Any predetermined program of works and delivery schedule will be noted and actioned. Any changes will, proactively, be notified to the PM and OD/OM and the Salesman.
4. The PE will be jointly responsible alongside the PM for monitoring the profitability of all projects under their control. Any concerns should be highlighted to the PM and/or OM/OD.
5. The PE will monitor the progress of their teams work at all times and will advise the PM of any changes through regular 'Project Reviews'.
6. It will be the responsibility of the PE to ensure that the customer and any other interested parties are kept up to date with the progress of the project.
7. Where the PE experiences difficulty in fulfilling their duties or finds the program of works not on schedule, particularly where 'Liquidated Damages' may be incurred, the PM and/or OM/OD will be advised immediately.
8. The PE will provide or organize any relevant customer training and ensure that commissioning and completion certificates are signed and provided.
9. The PE will ensure that all applicable documentation is provided in a suitable format at the time of handover to the client.
10. Giving adequate notice, the Service Manager must be informed of any pending project completions to allow a handover or attendance if felt necessary.
11. The PE will liaise with the Service Manager to accommodate the requirements in performing remedial or new installation works generated within the Service Department.
12. The PE will feedback all information to ensure the most efficient customer invoicing schedule for all their ongoing projects.
