Role Title: Packer / Stand In Wrapping Machine Operator and Data Contact
Salary: £23,492.04
Working Hours: Green/Yellow/Red Period – Dayshift, 37 hours per week. Green Period - Monday to Thursday, 08:00-17:15, Yellow Period – Monday to Thursday, 08:00-17:15 and Friday 07:00 - 13:00, Red period – Monday to Friday, 07:45 - 17:15 and Friday, 07:00 - 15:00.

You will be required to stand in as a Wrapping Machine Operator and Data Contact as and when required. When performing these duties, you will receive an up-lift payment.
What will this role achieve?
We are looking for a Packers for a permanent position in Zone 2 (Jam, W4 and Foil) working day shift. As a packer your main responsibility is to work as part of a team in the packing and feeding of biscuits in line with site requirements. When required, you will stand in as a Wrapping Machine Operator. Wrapping Machine Operators are accountable for reporting and resolving any issues related to the Wrapping Machine and also enter data at the end of production as a Data Contact.
The role requires a proactive individual with a ‘can do’ attitude who is committed to maintaining high standards in production whilst working as part of a dynamic team. Must want to progress within your team as you will be trained to step into the permanent role when needed. Will be required to move lines across the factory as and when required.
What will be your key deliverables?
* You will need to work effectively with other team members in the department as well as the ATM and Team Manager.
* Pack biscuits using both hands on the production line.
* Manually pack products to specification, including tasks that involve bending, lifting, and stretching.
* Visually inspect products for foreign matter or hazards.
* Ensure packed biscuits meet quality specifications.
* Follow all quality, safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards.
* Work to a high standard to help achieve planned production output.
* Report any issues promptly to the ATM or Manager.
* Support the introduction and implementation of improvement initiatives.
* Complete hourly SIC board checks accurately.
* Work across different lines within the department, including the Co-Pack area as required.
* Develop skills over time in key roles such as Heads, Corner, Fridge, and Palletising to support department coverage.
* Collaborate with colleagues at all stages of the production line to maintain a smooth and coordinated workflow.
* Support the training and development of colleagues and new team members.
Wrapping Machine Operator and Data Contact Responsibilities
* Carry out all pre-start checks.
* Ensure the product meets the correct quality and specification at the start of the shift and throughout.
* Understand equipment and machinery setup requirements.
* Complete changeovers according to procedure.
* Follow rework procedures as required.
* Monitor and maintain product consistency by adjusting machinery settings when needed.
* Accurately complete all documentation to the required standard.
* Maintain factory standards safely at all times.
* Complete shift handovers in line with area requirements and the agreed agenda.
* Support the training and development of colleagues and new employees.
* Perform basic problem diagnosis and carry out routine maintenance tasks.
* Ensure the team understands the daily task plan.
* Communicate directly with the relevant person to resolve issues efficiently.
* Work in a fast-paced, noisy, and warm environment.
* Participate in discussions regarding process improvements, including DSOP.
* Enter production data into Autostore at the end of the day.
* Replace film rolls on the wrapping machine.
* Adjust wrapper settings to maintain product quality and consistency.
* Perform regular weight checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
* Communicate effectively with Depositor Operators to ensure smooth production flow.
Bring your experience
Essential
* Manufacturing packing experience.
* Good at working with other people.
* Basic numerical and literacy knowledge.
* Manual dexterity - Ability to use hands quickly and accurately while working.
* Basic communication skills.
* Supportive within the team.
* Be able to multi-task.
Desirable
* Previous experience is desirable but not essential, training will be given.
* Knowledge of manufacturing environment and of HACCP and safe systems of work.
* Understand zonal Key Performance Indicators (production targets, waste levels and line performance).
