Our office in Toronto is seeking a Civil Engineer-Rail to join our team.
This position involves working on civil designs for rail projects (High Speed, Metro, LRT, streetcars) in the Toronto office.
What will your duties be?
* Assist Design Manager in all tasks related to the development of construction documents required for the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel Project.
* Monitor Design Schedule, track deliverable dates, and prepare look-ahead schedules for distribution.
* Assist discipline leads in identifying design issues and prepare RFIs to send to the client as required.
* Manage Design Subconsultant agreements, deliverables, and invoicing processes.
* Track all project-associated costs related to design hours progress tracking and estimating.
* Work with Discipline Leads to ensure design solutions are fully coordinated with other disciplines and contract requirements.
* Work with BIM and CAD personnel to develop drawings, sketches, and support documents when required.
* Track and monitor design interfaces – internal, external with client, and external with third parties.
* Review all contract requirements and ensure compliance.
* Participate in Change Management processes and assist the Commercial Manager when required.
* Track design issues and assist in their resolution.
* Liaise with the Project Document Control Manager to ensure procedures are adhered to and key documents uploaded to the client are compliant.
* Review project and company procedures for Design Quality Management and track performance.
* Attend internal and external meetings and keep meeting minute records.
* Familiarity with local design codes and drawing preparation standards is generally required.
What do you need to fit the position?
* 5-8 years’ experience as a Civil Engineer, including alignment (mandatory).
* Some experience as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager is an asset.
* Must have experience in detailed design coordination.
* PMP training is an asset.
* High skills in Inroads or Power Rail Track are mandatory.
* Sound technical/business judgment in the evaluation, organization, management, and experience of design activities.
* Able to develop plans, specifications, technical notes, and calculations with minimal supervision.
* Ability to develop non-standard solutions.
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team.
* Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and effective manner.
* Effective communication skills with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, partners, contractors, etc.
* Willingness to learn, develop, and apply new techniques, standards, and processes.
* Willingness to take on additional tasks as needed.
* Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
* Excellent analytical and technical writing skills, along with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
* Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is critical.
