Building Services Engineer
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £550-£580 a day
Location: Wirral
Overview:
My client is looking for a building services engineer for a 6-month contract on the Wirral. The position requires a building services engineer to work on delivering the decarbonisation of public services buildings in the region. This includes developing building services improvement strategies on office buildings, bus hubs, vent stations for the tunnels, and tunnel plants.
Technical Knowledge:
1. Ensure all mechanical systems across the estate are statutory compliant.
2. Use Building Management Systems and SCADA.
3. Provide regular performance reports and updates on the decarbonisation agenda for all buildings across the estate.
4. Be the technical authority for mechanical systems across the estate.
5. Ensure reactive maintenance is promptly acted on.
6. Ensure the mechanical systems are functional and meet the latest technical and performance requirements.
7. Provide a technical specification for maintaining all functional/mechanical systems across the estate, including lifts, heating, ventilation, pressure systems, and generators.
8. Deliver a cost-effective infrastructure and estates function for existing and refurbished assets while meeting quality and environmental standards.
9. Achieve optimum performance standards and ratings as specified to ensure maximum efficiency in all building, property, and estate assets.
10. Understand and meet all health and safety duties and responsibilities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including leading a team by example.
11. Proactively manage and maintain property, buildings, infrastructure, estates, and assets.
12. Ensure services and equipment are operated in the most cost-effective manner to reduce energy consumption and minimize utility costs, aligning with decarbonisation goals.
13. Ensure delivery of works complies with specialised requirements.
Strategic Advice:
1. Provide strategic advice on when parts should be replaced, in collaboration with the Investment Programme.
2. Implement new solutions while ensuring continuity of service.
3. Complete options appraisals and cost/benefit analyses of replacing new parts compared to maintaining existing parts.
4. Understand and promote Asset Management objectives and ensure appropriate service provision by setting strategic goals within the wider Investment Programme.
5. Review service delivery and create a long-term maintenance plan for replacing parts in conjunction with the Investment Programme.
6. Review maintenance approaches and suggest ways to improve efficiency where appropriate.
Project Development:
1. Create project plans, including pricing schedules and spend profiles for maintenance activities and investment projects.
2. Liaise with business leads across the organisation to set requirements for projects and budgets.
3. Manage dependencies for completing maintenance while minimizing disruptions to customers.
4. Monitor contract performance of suppliers.
5. Effectively manage contractors and supplier contracts, including SLAs and KPIs.
6. Coordinate reporting and monitoring of suppliers, consultants, and contractors' performance.
7. Apply techniques to help determine and track time resources in line with agreed Client SLAs and delivery outputs.
