Safeguarding Officer £30,538 £32,493 Term Time only Permanent Brent Purpose of the role: The purpose of the role is to provide effective pastoral care, mental health and wellbeing support, and safeguarding support for students with the possibility of working across a range of year groups. You are expected to work with the systems and structures that are in place to ensure all reported concerns are acted on immediately and as a result, students and their families receive professional and efficient support. As the systems and structures reflect the JFS safeguarding policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education, you need to be confident with these documents. You will work collaboratively with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputies on safeguarding concerns; you will also work closely with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead, to effectively support students with mental health concerns. Responsibilities: Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy DSLs (Designated Safeguarding Leads) to ensure students across the school are safeguarded and supported. Ensure the safeguarding and mental health policies are implemented and promote the best safeguarding and mental health and wellbeing practice to all stakeholders. Maintain accurate, timely, confidential, and up-to-date records on all pastoral, safeguarding and child protection cases on CPOMS and safeguarding trackers, and provide reports when required. Ensure all vulnerable students are checked regularly and record all meetings on the safeguarding trackers. Respond in a timely manner to safeguarding and pastoral concerns / issues to ensure students are kept safe from harm; ensure all action points are followed through and those concerned held accountable. Pro-actively work with parents / carers and other agencies through joint planning and monitoring of their arrangements for the safeguarding of children. Liaise with all relevant professionals and parents / cares to ensure pape Person Specification: Good standard of education, including English and Maths Safeguarding Level 3 training Advanced DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) training Have relevant experience in a student service/ behavioural /safeguarding environment within the education sector. Proven track record of motivating and managing young people in a challenging environment Understanding of safeguarding regulations and practices Good interpersonal, written and communication skills.
