Little St Johns Surgery are recruiting for an experienced and dedicated medical secretary to join our team in Woodbridge. This position is offered on a part-time basis for 21 hours a week, working the following days/hours:
Monday 08.30-17.00
Tuesday 08.30-17.00
You will also be required to be flexible to cover holidays and sickness.
Main duties of the job
* Liaise with patients about their care and assisting GPs with negotiating care pathways.
* Manage secretarial duties efficiently and chase up any outstanding responses as required.
* Process and action referrals and patient correspondence as instructed by the clinical team.
* Attend and minute meetings as required.
* Manage daily post and franking machine including supplies for the surgery.
* Produce invoices as required and reconcile accordingly in liaison with finance manager.
* Audio typing of clinical team correspondence using a digital dictation system.
* Send referrals and MCCDs to the medical examiners.
* Provide the coroner's office with requested information.
* Daily monitoring and processing of all emails received.
* Update and manage letter templates in SystmOne as required.
* Liaise with the IT helpdesk to report issues and follow up resolutions.

Person Specification
Experience
* Previous medical secretarial experience, including audio typing using a digital dictation system within a primary or secondary care setting is essential.
* Flexible, professional, highly motivated and friendly with an excellent eye for detail.
* Strong administrative experience and good organisation skills.
* Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
* Excellent general IT skills including MS Office and experience of working with a clinical system.
* Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times.
* Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure.
* Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
