The healthcare support workers on A4 are an important part of the wider team, bring expertise in cannulation and venepuncture, sharpening clinical skills such as simple patient assessment and escalation of concerns. To ensure that we continue to give the very best care to our patients we need to train and develop our staff. Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has clearly set out what is expected of our HCA'sand the competences they are expected to achieve. All HCAs joining the Trust are expected to complete Care Certificate, work towards a level 2 recognised Healthcare award and maintain up to date mandatory training requirements. The role of the HCA is to assist the Registered Nurse in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the individual needs of patients and their families. The post holder is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care in support of and supervised by an Assistant Practitioner/Registered Nurse, maintaining a high standard of quality patientcare and staff morale through personal example, good conduct and appearance.
