JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is recruiting for a Rigger at SAGE St Fergus on a staff basis. Applicants will need to commute to site as no accommodation is provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Rigger/Banksman:
Purpose / Role
1. To deliver a high quality, consistent and competent rigging / lifting operations in accordance with Company requirements, standards and procedures whilst conforming to UK Regulations and Standards.
2. To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule.
3. To ensure all rigging / lifting activities are completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, equipment or environment.
4. Demonstrable relevant experience in rigging & lifting operations throughout the industry.
Key aims and objectives
1. Read, understand and implement all applicable Company requirements, standards and procedures and ensure that all rigging / lifting activities are completed in compliance with LOLER and company procedures to a high standard of safety.
2. Perform rigging / lifting duties as requested by the LOLER Appointed Person, ensuring that all lifting equipment and accessories are utilised in accordance with the manufacturer's operating instructions and/or recommendations.
Responsibilities
Prime responsibilities and duties
1. Understanding of and development of lifting plans to enable the safe execution of rigging / lifting duties.
2. Provide support to other trades / disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team.
3. Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments to ensure rigging / lifting activities are completed in a safe and controlled manner.
4. Raise awareness of conflicting activities or unforeseen difficulties which could affect rigging / lifting operations.
5. Raising applicable Permit to Work in order to complete work scope in a controlled and safe manner.
6. Select appropriate lifting accessories and ensure they are attached / detached between the load and lifting equipment in a correct and safe manner as detailed in approved lift plans.
7. Use clear and unambiguous hand / radio signals to safely direct the actions of a crane manoeuvring loads of various weights and dimensions.
8. Carry out routine checks on lifting equipment and accessories in accordance with the prescribed maintenance procedure and ensure they are in a serviceable condition before and after use.
9. Demonstrable experience in rigging & lifting operations throughout the oil and gas industry.
10. Ability to communicate effectively and work with other team members and disciplines.
11. Demonstrate commitment to safety.
12. Flexible and able to comply with company and client requirements.
13. Confident with the ability to work on own initiative.
14. Has a desire to learn and develop within the role.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
Essential
1. Appropriate documented evidence confirming the trade.
2. OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment.
3. OPITO Banksman/Slinger Competence Assessment.
4. Working at Heights level 2.
Desirable
1. Sphera Permit to Work system.
2. COSHH Awareness.
3. Lifting Equipment Inspection.
4. Rough Terrain Forklift training.
5. Level 3 Diploma in Moving Engineering Construction Loads or Engineering Construction Capital Plant or Steel Structures or equivalent.
6. Rigging Loft Management.
