There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Group Division, is looking to recruit a Group Tax Manager to join the Division’s Finance department.
The Role
The role of Tax Manager involves dealing with all areas of property tax to support the Group Head of Tax. To act as a tax business partner working across the Group to cover compliance and advisory business demand.
Principal accountabilities of the role include:
1. Promote tax awareness and knowledge, including liaising with business and tax partners.
2. Support the Group Head of Tax and Group Finance/ Risk functions, providing cover as and when required.
3. Managing indirect tax risks including filing accurate returns, managing enquiries and audits from tax authorities, meeting filing deadlines.
4. Prepare and review indirect tax returns (including VAT and CIS).
5. Conduct ledger account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting of indirect taxes.
6. Prepare/ review detailed VAT packs to support the tax returns and ensure compliance with local regulations.
7. Manage the process of raising VAT payments and making VAT reclaims.
8. Liaise with group and divisional finance functions on indirect tax matters.
9. Stay up to date with regulatory changes and communicate their impact on indirect tax compliance.
10. Budget for indirect taxes and provide accurate forecasts for tax planning purposes.
11. Provide ad hoc indirect tax advisory support as supply chain changes occur, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
12. Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
13. Familiarity with COINS and/ or other indirect Tax software is preferred.
To be considered for this role you will be ACA/ CTA Qualified, and likely working at Assistant Manager/ Manager level and looking to step into your first role in industry, or already in an in-house role or equivalent position in HMRC.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
14. Experience of working within a similar role in Industry or with a Big 4/ HMRC tax background would be preferred.
15. Experience of working with tax and accountancy software.
16. Working knowledge of COINS would be desirable.
Qualifications and Training
17. ACA or equivalent qualification and suitable post qualification experience gained in Industry/ HMRC or Accounting firm.
Skills and Aptitude
18. Good interpersonal skills.
19. Excellent organisation and administration skills, including good attention to detail.
20. Ability to work on own as well as part of a team.
21. Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously.
22. Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.

25. Predominantly office-based role with approximately 30% travel within the UK.
