Do you enjoy working with a down-to-earth, supportive team but at the same time be relied on to use your own initiative and problem-solve out in the field? Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that is delivering, or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.
What you’ll do:
* Work in various environments such as office, outdoors, BT exchanges, data centres, and emergency service locations.
* Learn how to install, maintain, and test on-site equipment in line with the various contract requirements.
* Work on Emergency Service vehicles installing, maintaining, testing, and commissioning telecommunications equipment.
* Learn about Emergency Services Radio Comms and how to interpret VHF/RF/Microwave systems.
* Work with Optical Fibre including cable preparation, OTDR testing, and interpreting the results.
* Learn about IP routers and networks.
* Understand the project requirements of Telent's customers and contracts.
* Complete risk assessments and become part of a UK-wide field force.
* Implement health and safety standards and regulations.
Who you are & what to prepare for:
* This role involves working at heights, outdoors, and travelling across different regions in the UK.
* Occasionally work in Emergency Services locations and/or around various vehicles.
* No prior experience required as full training will be provided.
* Looking for candidates with the right attitude, commitment, and desire to learn.
* Vehicle, mobile phone, laptop, and personal protective equipment provided.
* Ownership of tasks and personal development is essential.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are vital.
* Logical approach and enjoyment of problem-solving are important.
* Ability to undertake physically demanding work and possess normal colour vision.
The Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 4 or higher (or equivalent qualification), including Maths, English, and a Science or IT-based subject.
* Must be eligible to work in the UK.
* Hold a Full UK Driving licence.
* Must be over the age of 18 by September 2025.
* Able to pass full Security Clearance vetting and adhere to the Drugs & Alcohol policy.
Programme Specifics:
* This apprenticeship typically lasts 24 months.
* Starting salary of £17,500, increasing throughout the programme.
* Qualification gained will be a Level 3 Information Communications Technician.
* Training provider Bragd will support you in obtaining your qualification.
* Predominantly field-based with office and college visits as required. Full-time position may be offered upon completion.
