IT Business Analyst (6 months fixed term)
We are a Crown-owned company charged with leading and supporting Government infrastructure projects and programmes across Aotearoa.
Since being repurposed in 2023, our focus is on supporting the Crown to deliver national infrastructure projects and programmes for a range of government agencies. We take on the day-to-day accountability for procurement and design and delivery of infrastructure and property projects, and we’ve recently been mandated to deliver projects for agencies with low delivery capability.
Our teams based in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland take pride in rigorously managing the budget, timeframe and scope of infrastructure projects to ensure projects are delivered safely on time, on budget and end-user expectations are managed, and projects deliver value-for-money for the Crown. Our objectives are to improve the consistency, effectiveness, and efficiency of Crown infrastructure delivery.
Reporting to the Head of IT, the IT Business Analyst (BA) will play a vital role in supporting the business for the next 6 months through a period of significant information systems transformation. You will also be supporting the development of a Data Governance framework. Under the guidance and direction of the existing IT BA, you will be responsible for identifying, validating, and documenting software requirements and business processes for new and existing systems. You’ll serve as a liaison between software vendors, internal business units, and business owners. As a project team member, the IT BA represents the needs of the users and, through elicitation and careful analysis, ensures solutions meet or exceed those needs.
This is an exciting, highly collaborative role where no two weeks will be the same. You’ll want to be comfortable working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment at times as you work on a range of different topics and projects with different internal and external stakeholders.
Based in either Christchurch or Wellington office, the role could be worked either full-time or part-time hours (0.8+FTE), workload pro-rated accordingly, so do let us know what hours work best for you in your cover letter. This is a 6 month, fixed-term opportunity commencing as soon as our selected candidate is available.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
1. Relevant IT qualification and/or a Computer Science Degree
2. IT or Business professional with a minimum of 5 years BA experience
3. Experience in the engineering and/or construction sector would be advantageous
4. Experience documenting business processes and workflows
5. Strong knowledge and understanding of data governance principles
6. Experience in analysing data, determining data structures, data relationships, and how data may be transformed
7. Strong technical thinking, analytical and conceptualization skills
8. Strong listening and oral/written communications skills
9. Systems-oriented and enjoy working with new tools and applications.
