Job summary Fixed term contract - 9 months Part time - 33.75 hours per week (further hours are pending approval to make this up to a full time post) An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Paediatric Specialist Dietitian. The post holder will be working within a well-established, innovative and proactive paediatric team that provides a service to children aged 0-18 years referred by acute and community practitioners across Rotherham. The post will also include time within adult acute services. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Dietitian, with excellent clinical, communication and team working skills. The 34 strong team are warm, friendly, supportive and forward thinking. We are unique in that we provide a national award winning nutritional prescribing service in Rotherham for the SYICB (South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board). We are a fully integrated service with hospital and community and have excellent links with our SYICB, GPs, Hospital Specialist services and surrounding Trusts. As a department, we support and encourage CPD and are an active participant in Student dietetic training clustering with Nottingham University and Sheffield Hallam University. Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Main duties of the job To provide specialist dietetic expertise to patients, their families and health care professionals within the paediatric services, in both hospital and community settings. Inpatient areas include our childrens ward and our childrens assessment unit. Outpatient clinics will include patients referred by GP or Paediatrician with a range of conditions including; cows milk allergy, multiple food allergy, restricted eating, faltering growth and coeliac disease. We also provide group sessions for children with restricted eating. There will also be the opportunity to gain experience working with children that are artificially tube fed. There will be dedicated time within the adult dietetic inpatient service also, working within the team of hospital inpatient dietitians. This opportunity offers a great breadth of experience to a wide range of clinical conditions. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner in providing dietetic assessment, treatment and management to their own designated caseload of patients and will maintain up to date dietetic records. They will use evidence based principles and current best practise to assess, plan, implement and evaluate dietetic interventions.
