Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
It’s not every job where you can say you genuinely shape how an organisation evolves - but this is exactly that kind of role. At Scottish Water, you'll make a real impact, helping us put people right at the heart of every change we make.
Sound good? We’re looking for a Senior People Consultant to join our People Programmes and Project Delivery team.
This is a Fixed Term opportunity for 2 years.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be at the heart of an exciting project, helping us roll out a fresh enterprise model that transforms how we manage our Capital Investment. It’s all about improving our assets and delivering outstanding service to our customers.
As our Culture and Behaviours Specialist, you’ll dive right into our enterprise transformation programme, getting under the skin of how changes impact our people’s culture, behaviours, and skills. Then, you’ll design creative, practical interventions that help everyone embrace and embed those changes.
You’ll team up with a variety of internal folk and external partners, crafting change plans that genuinely reflect what teams need. Collaboration is key – you’ll bring people together, spark great ideas, and drive Scottish Water towards achieving our transformation goals. And you’ll make sure everything aligns with our wider corporate initiatives and ways of working, including our Scottish Water Character behavioural framework.
What you’ll bring
You thrive on tackling challenges with a proactive, can-do attitude, always on the lookout for creative ways to solve business challenges.
You’ve got a solid understanding of organisational development – you’re comfortable with theories, models, and practices – and know your way around change models, especially when it comes to shaping culture and new ways of working.
Analysing problems and creating smart solutions comes naturally to you, and your consultancy skills mean you’re great at engaging and influencing people across the business. Your knack for collaboration and super facilitation skills means you excel at bringing people from different backgrounds and teams together to create something special.
Your background in learning and development means you’re confident carrying out training needs analysis and working with external training providers. Bonus points if you’ve got some project management know-how, particularly with methodologies like Agile or Scrum.
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) role, Monday to Friday. You’ll get 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays) and can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.
When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. For the everyday, we embrace flexible working.
For your future, there’s our pension as well as life assurance.
As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus and access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 7. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £51,970.
This role offers hybrid working, so you can be based anywhere in the Central Belt as long as you're within commuting distance of one of our main office hubs in Edinburgh or Stepps.
If you’re interested in this role, we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on Tuesday 25 March 2025. We’ll be starting interviews from Friday 4 April.
A few final things worth knowing…
Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you’re interested in this job, but don’t tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One.
Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. We’re also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.
As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland.
Finally, candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database.
We’re here to help. Ask us anything at SWRecruitment@ScottishWater.co.uk.
