What are we looking for? Able and willing to dedicate a minimum of 5 hours per week to the position. Experience in developing and executing SEO strategies. Understanding of digital marketing concepts and SEO practices. Proficiency in relevant SEO tools like Ahrefs, Google Analytics, etc. Some understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Ability to analyze data and provide evidence-based recommendations. Knowledge of keyword research and data mining tools. Understanding of ranking factors and search engine algorithms. Throughout its 15-year history, World History Encyclopedia has always taken SEO seriously and focused heavily on the technical and editorial aspects of SEO. Now we are looking for a dedicated volunteer SEO Manager to join our team and assist in elevating our website's visibility on Google. In this role, you will be responsible for researching high-value keywords, implementing link-building strategies, and collaborating closely with our editorial team.This position is suitable for volunteers with extensive experience in SEO wanting to make a meaningful contribution to a history-focused non-profit organization. As World History Encyclopedia is already a well-established publication with over a million backlinks, this is going to present an interesting SEO challenge.Your role will be integral in helping our encyclopedia reach more readers around the globe, allowing millions of people to learn about history entirely free of charge. Responsibilities Conducting keyword research to identify high-volume and relevant keywords. Designing, implementing and maintaining link-building strategies to increase the number of quality inbound links. Utilizing Ahrefs, Google Analytics, and other tools to track site traffic, rankings, and SEO effectiveness. Keeping up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and Google algorithm updates and sharing relevant information with the team. Collaborating with social media, editorial, and programming teams to optimize all aspects of the company's web presence. Assisting in the development, implementation and review of the company's overall SEO strategy.
