Location: WF6 1FD, Police Headquarters, Havertop Lane, Normanton
Job Title: Specialist Domestic Abuse Help Line & Intake Practitioner
Workstyle: Office-based with flexibility; occasional work outside of normal hours.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
You will be part of the Wakefield District Domestic Abuse Service (WDDAS), providing vital support as a first point of contact through a helpline and intake service. Your role will involve triaging referrals, assessing the risk and needs of individuals, and working closely with partners to ensure immediate safety for those affected by domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide an immediate and coordinated response to high-risk domestic abuse victims.
2. Triage referrals and assess risk using evidence-based risk tools like DASH 2009.
3. Work collaboratively within a multi-agency team to support victims, liaising with external services.
4. Support the SDAP team in helping clients referred to Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC).
5. Maintain accurate, confidential records and contribute to service monitoring and improvement.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
1. IDVA qualification or relevant degree.
2. Excellent understanding of domestic abuse, risk assessment, and safeguarding processes.
3. Proven experience in crisis management, multi-agency working, and supporting victims of domestic abuse.
