Department
The School of Life Sciences is a large and diverse academic department within the Faculty of Science and Health, engaging in research and education ranging from Biomedical Science to Marine Biology, creating a challenging and rewarding environment for both students and staff. We are looking for an ambitious individual to join our Technical Services team and to provide high quality technical support for our diverse body of staff and students.
Duties of the Role
Working closely with colleagues to support the ongoing technical provision and operation of GM facilities in the School, specifically for research groups within the Plant Productivity research grouping. Using specialist skills and expertise to support the School of Life Sciences in its mission for excellence in education and research.
Please note, the successful candidate will be appointed to the post of Technician.
Skills and Qualifications Required
The successful candidate will possess 5 GCSEs at A-C or equivalent, including English and Maths, A level (or equivalent) in relevant subject area, or relevant experience, along with HNC or equivalent experience. A degree in relevant subject is desirable.
Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in a fast paced and diverse technical setting, ideally gained in an educational environment. You will have in-depth knowledge and experience of Health and Safety requirements, and good organisational and time management skills. The ability to work autonomously, manage conflicting demands and work as part of a team are of the essence, as is the ability to plan and organise your work.
