The role
Fugro has an exciting opportunity for a Survey Operations Engineer to join the Marine Geophysical team in Aberdeen, where we design and carry out site surveys and investigations into marine development sites (offshore wind, oil & gas and other).
This is an office-based position in which you will be responsible for planning and coordination of the mobilisations of survey and operational equipment, data acquisition and processing systems as well as provision of technical support to operations on our fleet of purpose-built survey vessels.
You will be exposed to a large variety of projects (geophysical, environmental, geotechnical, AUV and USV), will continually seek to identify and improve working methods and technology and will be able to further develop your skillset.

Roles and responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Plan the mobilisations, equipment installations and survey vessel refits or dry docks in cooperation with Project Manager, Party Chief, Technical Coordinator, Workshop Technician, Vessel Manager, Regional Teams and our Suppliers.
2. Provide technical and operational support to survey vessels and participate in the technical support helpdesk.
3. Ensure sufficient inventory of equipment, spares and consumables is available to support operations.
4. Oversee the preparation, maintenance and testing of survey and operational equipment as well as systems and software for project-based work in alignment with maintenance procedures and guidelines.
5. Assist with technical reviews of tenders.
6. Coordinate new product tests and subsequent evaluations.
7. Actively review working processes and instructions and seek to identify new working methods, new technology or cost reductions to improve performance.
8. Visit survey vessels in ports in the UK and Europe as required (estimated 1-3 times a year).
Please note that this position is open to hybrid working but not to fully remote working. Occasional travel, including overseas, may be required. Occasional out of hours support may be required.
Requirements:
The following attributes are essential:
1. Degree qualified, MSC/BSc/BEng level or a Professional Engineering qualification.
2. Previous offshore operational experience (geophysical, seismic, environmental, geotechnical, drilling or similar).
3. Self-motivated and disciplined to work within a team environment to dynamic schedules and tight budgets.
4. Self-starter, takes initiative, good communicator, excellent organisational skills, flexible, people orientated, team player.
5. Good numerical, verbal and written skills.
