We are now looking for a passionate and experienced Sales & Events Manager for The Derby.
The Derby is a well-known meeting and events space, recognized as one of the most versatile locations for all types of encounters. The venue consists of 6 modern meeting rooms, a large events space called Studio One, and a rooftop terrace, hosting a wide range of events from large corporate meetings (up to 100 people) to private encounters (as small as 4 people).
The Sales & Events Manager should have a background in either a 4- or 5-star Hotel, Conference/Events operation, or within a corporate establishment. A natural leader, the candidate will drive the sales department and achieve set targets throughout the business.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong and bubbly personality, enjoy interacting with a mix of clientele (corporate and non-corporate), have a hands-on approach to the business, and be experienced in managing a small events team.
We are looking for a very well-organized individual with a strategic mindset, strong business and financial acumen, and a solid client portfolio.
The Sales & Events Manager will be directly responsible for The Derby's business development, collaborating with the Hotels’ operations. They must deliver exceptional customer service, have experience in converting a high number of inquiries reactively, organize functions to perfection, manage the events team, and liaise with other departments to guarantee outstanding experiences.
We seek a Sales professional with at least 3 years’ experience in reactive and proactive sales, a proven track record of high conversion, and the ability to communicate on all levels. Experience with Guestline/Reslynx is preferred but not mandatory.
Reporting to the company Director of Operations, the Sales & Events Manager will:
* Conduct proactive sales calls, meetings, and participate in networking events.
* Manage the workload with the events coordinator.
* Conduct client site visits alongside the team.
* Maintain and source new corporate business, establishing strong relationships with clients.
* Prepare weekly sales reports, activate strategies on compset, and analyze departmental performance.
* Be a team player with a proactive and mentoring attitude.
* Conduct reactive sales: communicate with clients via phone and email, arrange viewings, and negotiate pricing.
* Use the company PMS, Guestline, to track allocations and payments.
* Ensure all function rooms are clean and set up correctly according to event requirements.
* Brief and train the events team regarding menus, functions, and safety procedures (a Health and Safety certificate is essential).
* Check that all storage areas are clean and tidy.
Maintain excellent communication within all departments.
Run the department proactively and independently.

* Have an excellent command of English, both verbally and in writing.
* Be experienced with corporate clientele.
* Be highly organized and efficient.
* Have experience in a similar position.
The role requires superb organization and communication skills and in-depth events know-how. It is essential to ensure all departments are adequately briefed and trained. Leading by example, the ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach to the business and a keen eye for detail.
