Health And Safety ManagerJOB SUMMARYTo provide operational Health, Safety and Wellbeing leadership across the Built Environment Division.To develop and implement a Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Wellbeing (HSQEW) framework, taking responsibility for the development and management of robust health, safety and wellbeing strategies, policies, processes and procedures considering best practice and the operational needs of the business.Ensuring that Keltbray complies with all current Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Wellbeing (HSQEW) legislation.Primary Tasks and DutiesTo work in partnership with management teams to provide advice, support and innovative solutions to meet their needsTo manage and maintain effective relationships and communications with the HSQE department and operational teams.To manage and maintain effective relationships and communications with internal auditors, regulators etc.Provide positive leadership and promote the adoption of best practice.Identify initiatives to improve performance and address areas of poor performance.Responsible for developing, promoting and monitoring the HSQEW culture.Carrying out routine and regular inspections of all their delegated locations and provide timely written reports on findings.Set a personal example at all times by using the correct personal protective clothing/equipment and following all safety requirements and procedures.Responsible for undertaking and reviewing loss investigations and near miss reporting.Ensure that notification and reporting procedures to the relevant statutory authorities are carried out.To escalate all instances of malpractice, all reoccurring findings and poor working standardsAssist in the production, review and monitor suitability and effectiveness of risk assessments and safe systems of works.Understand the application of the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the Companies business.Immediately contact the Head of HSQEW responsible if situations are found, that require immediate rectification or the stopping of any operation.To bring new techniques for improving HSQEW to the attention of the Head of HSQEAssist in / lead investigations into all events, identify underlying and root causes and make recommendations for SMART remedial actions to prevent recurrence.Initiate and maintain positive measures to raise the level of the HSQEW performance, safety compliance and awarenessLiaise with inspectors of the Health and Safety Executive, local authorities, fire, police, ambulance services, as necessary, and to foster links with local safety groups, trade associations, training boards, Institute of Occupational Safety and Health etc.Qualifications and TrainingInstitution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) – Graduate or CharteredNEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and SafetyExtensive and up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislationApplicable CSCS CardAccident Investigation Report WritingKnowledgeMinimum of 3 years’ experience of working within the relevant sectorKnowledge of Occupational Safety and Health risks, and controls associated to Keltbray business operationsExperience of managing and developing staff.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work autonomously and flexibly, responding to business needsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBe flexible to change and actively seek constructive feedbackGood interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisationIT literate and a comprehensive understanding of Windows based programmes to include Word, Excel and OutlookEqual opportunities:Keltbray are an equal opportunities employer and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable.
