At British Gypsum we’re looking for a Mine Mechanical Fitter, to work in a small, focussed, multi-disciplinary team, at our Mine in East Leake. You’ll participate in delivering continuous improvement projects as well as maintaining all of the underground equipment.
Your role will be critical in ensuring maintenance and availability targets are met, meaning an overall positive experience for our customers.
This role operates a staggered 3 shift pattern, with a week of nights, week of afternoons and a week of days including Saturday and Sunday, followed by a rostered week off.
What we’re looking for:
* You will have undertaken a recognised mechanical apprenticeship (or similar)
* Several years’ experience installing and maintaining equipment particularly conveyance/continuous mining and material handling equipment
* Experience of underground mining systems and associated Permits to Work would be an advantage
* Experience of working on heavy plant machinery
* Coming from a mining background would be advantageous but not essential
What you will be doing:
You will be accountable for your own and your colleagues’ health and safety, whilst ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest possible standard. You will be expected to have an analytical mind and be able to apply those skills to problem solving and decision making and be able to clearly communicate with others.
Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach, with a continuous improvement mindset, as well as both reactive and planned mechanical maintenance work, there will be a need to undertake the statutory inspection and routine maintenance of all underground equipment.
When required you will perform planned maintenance and react appropriately to breakdowns in order to keep the mining equipment active and performing well.
The tasks in which you’ll apply the continuous improvement tools will involve all aspects of the mine equipment.
