PURCHASING MANAGER - WIGAN - C£55K DOE - PERMANENT, FULL TIME
My client is a well-established Manufacturing Business in the Wigan area, who have been successful in their field for many years. They have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities:
1. Drive End-to-End Sourcing & Purchasing Strategies: Lead the development and execution of streamlined sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management processes to optimize supply chain efficiency.
2. Achieve Significant Cost Savings: Spearhead supplier contract reviews and renegotiations to deliver substantial annual savings of £500,000 to £1 million.
3. Revolutionize Inventory Systems: Implement and oversee the transition to a fully integrated, real-time stock management system, ensuring accuracy and improved workflow.
4. Collaborate with Leadership: Actively participate in the Management Team, offering insights and solutions to address company-wide challenges and drive business growth.
5. Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team: Manage and mentor a dedicated purchasing team, fostering growth and ensuring team members excel in their roles.
6. Champion New Product Development: Take a leadership role in supply management during new product initiatives, ensuring seamless coordination and supply chain readiness.
7. Expand Supplier Relationships: Negotiate and develop comprehensive contracts to broaden the scope of existing supplier relationships, particularly for critical single-source contracts.
8. Identify & Develop Supplier Networks: Identify and build relationships with potential suppliers, contributing to long-term growth and operational efficiency.
9. Negotiate Strategic Supply Agreements: Lead negotiations with both new and existing suppliers, securing favorable terms that align with business objectives.
10. Ensure Cost-Efficient Contracting: Oversee the creation, review, and negotiation of supplier contracts to ensure financial efficiency and optimal outcomes.
11. Conduct Market Research & Analysis: Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain challenges to make informed and strategic purchasing decisions.
12. Investigate Material & Supply Trends: Stay ahead of market changes, pricing shifts, and availability challenges to inform purchasing strategies.
13. Lead Project Procurement Strategy: Guide procurement planning for key projects, offering insights into timing, quantities, and strategic sourcing.
14. Leverage Global Sourcing Opportunities: Explore and capitalize on low-cost sourcing options from emerging economies like China and India to optimize cost-efficiency.
15. Strengthen Supplier Partnerships: Coordinate and manage ongoing relationships with supply partners, ensuring smooth operations and mutual benefit.
16. Optimize Warehousing & Stock Management: Overhaul warehousing operations by consolidating stock and establishing streamlined goods issuance processes for greater efficiency.
17. Manage Inventory Efficiency: Ensure inventory levels are optimized, achieving cost efficiencies in raw materials and work-in-progress stock.
