We’re looking to appoint a Product Manager to help shape our graphics tooling and content-creation workflows. Graphics and Automation sits within the Production Workflows and Systems group, which is responsible for all of the BBC’s production tools technology and workflows for producing content across television, visualised radio and online.
Within the group, we have tools for short-form production, streaming, sport, news, radio, television and more. Graphics and Automation plays an important part of the BBC’s digital first strategy for UK and worldwide audiences, building broadcast graphics and studio automation capability for live TV and multiple streams. Our software powers data-driven graphics for live news, elections, sport events and football results shows as well as generating graphics for post-production workflows.
We work closely with news, sport and many other content genres to enable them to provide engaging graphics content and reach new audiences.
Main Responsibilities
This role will see you working with technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating idea generation, sharing knowledge and building strong working relationships around a shared set of objectives. To support you in delivering value you will be working with our product management, technical architecture community, a delivery manager, software and system engineers and user experience designers, as well as operational and production colleagues to understand problems, identify opportunities, prioritise initiatives and ensure the right support and operational models are in place.
To carry out this role you will need an excellent balance of technical and communication skills as well as a clear vision of the requirements.

* Knowledge of broadcast graphics workflows, a wide understanding of the modern technologies and operational practices used, and a good understanding of the broadcast graphics strategy in this area.
* You will play a key role in helping the team deliver value quickly, mitigate risk and hit objectives by identifying priorities and planning & managing workload. Working closely with the teams Product Managers to help execute a shared vision into a reality and to ensure there is a coherent solution roadmap.
* Comfortable working with technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating idea generation, sharing knowledge and building strong working relationships around a shared set of objectives.
* Experience of leading graphics tools or working as a product manager leading an agile multi-disciplinary team delivering digital products and services is desirable. However, while experience is not essential, it is essential that you have an understanding of product development principles, an agile mindset, and an openness to learn.
* Ability to write user and technical requirements, use data and user feedback to inform priorities based on value/effort and to communicate them effectively with the relevant teams.
