This role is an exciting opportunity on the Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) for Gorton and Levenshulme based at the new Gorton Hub office. The role of Senior Social Worker is a vital role on the team and will work collaboratively with the Team Manager to ensure the smooth and effective running of the team.
The Senior Social Worker will work closely with the Team Manager, Social Workers and Social Care Assessors on the team to promote that positive outcomes are achieved for the citizens of Gorton and Levenshulme.
Effective communication skills and knowledge of relevant legislation are required for the role, as well as a solid appreciation of strength-based and person-centred practice.
The Gorton INT is a busy team based on the Eastern side of the central locality, covering a diverse range of citizens with varying strengths and needs. The team is settled, hard-working and friendly, with an established culture of supporting one another and striving to achieve the best outcomes for our citizens.

The Senior Social Worker role is a supervisory role and the role holder will provide professional support and guidance to the team as well as formal supervision to a number of team members. The Senior Social Worker is responsible for ensuring that necessary legal, policy and ethical imperatives are maintained in working with customers of the service.
The role holder will support the leadership of the Team Manager providing a consistent and effective service in complex individual and family situations, maintaining good working relationships within the team, with other Council services and with a range of external partners.
The role holder will be responsible for the safe delivery of social care functions, ensuring the effective discharge of statutory responsibilities and the provision of a high quality standard of service. The role holder will manage safeguarding risk effectively, working within a multi-agency environment to provide a professional social work service.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
* Providing professional supervision to qualified and unqualified staff.
* Providing practice support and guidance to team members working in complex situations, promoting citizen wellbeing.
* Supporting the effective management of the team, supporting the Team Manager to maintain a high level of performance.
* Regular Duty Management, providing advice and guidance to the Duty workers.
* Embedding a reflective working culture within the team including facilitating Communities of Practice reflective meetings.
* Undertaking responsibility for managing specific aspects of practice and leadership in the absence of the Team Manager.
* Support where necessary in the wider roles and performance of the team in respect of adult safeguarding, assessments and reviews.
Essential requirements for the role:
* Communication Skills: Is able to effectively transfer key and complex information to all levels of staff, adapting the style of communication as necessary and ensuring that this information is understood.
* Planning and Organising Skills: Excellent time management skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising, preparing in advance and setting realistic timescales for own self and others.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to absorb, understand and quickly assimilate complex information and compare information from a number of different sources.
* Problem Solving and Decision Making Skills: Ability to formulate independently a range of options for new or unfamiliar situations and to select the appropriate course of action.
* ICT Skills: Skills to use ICT systems to obtain and analyse data and present it effectively.
* People Management Skills: Ability to lead, manage and motivate staff to high levels of performance.
Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification
* Registered with Social Work England
* Experienced Social Worker in line with the Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework
* Experienced Practice Educator/BIA/AMHP
* Willing to consent to and apply for an enhanced (DBS) disclosure check
* Willingness to travel to any location within the boundaries of the City of Manchester.
Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role:
* Knowledge of Liquid Logic Social Care System and proficiency in using Microsoft Office functions.
