Time Commitment: We usually ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week
Days & Times: Monday-Saturday, 9am – 4.30pm
We will organise a volunteering pattern which fits around your wider commitments, whatever hours or days this may be.
Stores: York, Selby, Scarborough
Why we need you: Customer service volunteers help support our day-to-day customer interactions in our stores, including customers purchasing products in store, and over the phone organising both collections and deliveries to customers.
Responsibilities of the role:
* Greeting customers in a friendly, helpful manner
* Offering support and assistance to customers in store
o Providing information about our services
o Answering questions to the best of your ability
* Operating the till when customers purchase items
o Creating customer accounts
o Putting through card and cash transactions
o Issuing the correct change
o Counting sales
* Arranging delivery of products & collection of donations with customers
o Creating a job sheet using the computer & logging these in the diary
o Communicating with the van and warehouse teams about how to best support their deliveries
o Using the phone to arrange collections, asking the correct questions to make sure we are being donated good quality items
* Administrative support
o Assisting with printing, filing & organising where needed
o Uploading and organising time sheets
o Keeping back offices tidy and well stocked
Skills Required:
* You will need to be comfortable and prepared to interact with a wide range of customers, including over the phone
* Being a positive, helpful, and polite representative of the store to customers
* You do not need any specific skills, all training including use of the till and cash-handling will be provided
