MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST-HOLDER: Clinical Duties Attach ECG ambulatory monitoring to patient. Removal and downloading of ambulatory ECG. Preparation of monitors for the next diagnostic clinic. Discuss with patients issues relevant to their diagnostic investigations. Liaise with Cardiac Physiologist highlighting any concerns re the patient. Maintain accurate documentation with regards to the patient record. Maintain stock levels. Give advice and support to patients and carers, within duties appropriate to grade and level of competence. Communicate closely with other colleagues, reporting on patients condition as appropriate. Clerical Tasks within Diagnostics Welcome patients attending the centre in a warm, friendly and courteous manner. Update clinical system when patients present. Maintain an accurate manual register of patients in the event of any break in computer service. Notify other departments of any patient arrivals where necessary. Ordering and putting away stationery and stock. Inputting data on computer and updating records. Travel to other Clinics when required. Other Relevant Duties Adhere to policies and procedures of the company and keep up to date with nursing procedures and changes within the role. Work within the framework of relevant Department of Health Initiatives and local Health Improvement Plans. Observe national and local policies and procedures in respect of: Fire, Child Protection, Data Protection Act, Basic Life Support, Substances Hazardous to Health, Clinical Uniform policy and dress code. Record relevant details of accidents and untoward incidents in accordance with policy. Maintain good industrial relations. Education Identify training needs of self and participate in relevant in-service education and mandatory training. Attend staff meetings as required, including working groups to direct and implement change where appropriate. Quality Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk in the care of patients. Ensure own actions are consistent with clinical governance systems. Practice in accordance with agreed standards of care. Enable patients to access appropriate professionals in the team. Health, Safety & Security Observe local Health & Safety arrangements and take reasonable care of himself/ herself and persons that may be affected by his/ her work. Use and encourage others to be familiar with the personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines. Identify the risks involved in work activities and undertake them in a way that manages the risks. Use and encourage others to adopt appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas in each clinical room so that they are clean, safe and free from hazards. Communication Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising their needs for alternative methods of communication. Undertake effective communication with patients in specific clinical situations. Communicate effectively with other team members.
