We are recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor for an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a high-profile defence project. This is a unique opportunity to take a senior leadership role on one of the most complex and strategically important construction projects in the sector.
As a Senior Construction Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful execution of the construction phase, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will lead and mentor a team of Construction Managers and site staff, driving operational excellence and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Take overall responsibility for the construction phase of a major defence project.
Develop and implement detailed construction strategies, plans, and schedules.
Provide strong leadership to site teams, subcontractors, and direct labour.
Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Manage project performance, identifying risks and implementing effective mitigation measures.
Oversee budget and cost control, ensuring financial targets are achieved.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
Drive a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across the project.
Provide strategic input and guidance to senior leadership on construction-related matters The ideal candidate
Extensive experience as a Senior Construction Manager on large-scale, high-value projects (preferably within defence, infrastructure, or secure environments).
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, contracts (e.g., NEC), and project controls.
Proven ability to lead and develop large multidisciplinary teams in a high-pressure environment.
Excellent commercial awareness with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
