Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
Every role at Scottish Water plays a vital part in making a difference for the people and environment of Scotland. From ensuring water flows seamlessly from reservoirs to taps to managing wastewater through treatment plants, our work impacts every corner of the nation.
Want to join us? We have a position to lead one of our Wastewater Near Term System Planning Teams (North/West).
The purpose of this role is to ensure robust and resilient wastewater systems by managing service risks, conducting system analysis, and promoting sustainable interventions in line with our Sustainable Investment Decision Making (SIDM) aspirations. We’re developing digital tools to support wastewater service risk assessments, record actions taken, and provide evidence for operational and investment decision-making.
You’ll lead the team overseeing day-to-day near-term planning activities, ensuring planning is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with governance requirements. Using system analysis, you’ll verify service risks and identify opportunities for better process alignment and data management.
With Agile methodology, you’ll develop robust processes to support business priorities and our SIDM blueprint for 2030. You’ll engage with Scottish Water’s Transformation programme, leveraging tools like the Maximo EAM system, ESRI GIPMS, and Copperleaf AIP to improve current workflows.
This role involves nurturing collaborative relationships with our capital delivery partners, setting clear expectations, and monitoring service risks while building your team’s capability to operate independently.
What You’ll Do
1. Deliver near-term system planning that aligns with our long-term wastewater system planning strategy.
2. Ensure interventions align with organisational objectives and foster collaboration with project teams.
3. Provide leadership, guidance, and innovative solutions for all aspects of near-term planning, governance, and assurance.
What You’ll Bring
1. Extensive knowledge of wastewater systems (treatment and network) in both strategic and operational contexts.
2. Strong communication and collaboration skills, along with experience in stakeholder management.
3. Experience in change management and working across diverse organisational initiatives.
4. Technical knowledge of wastewater quality regulations, system planning processes, and risk management.
