Health Physics Operations Lead
Salary: from £41,344 to £45,479 per annum (dependent on skills and experience).
A Specialist Allowance is also available for this role.

ISIS is a facility scientific and research laboratory that provides neutron and muon beams to be used as a tool for researchers in many fields of science and technology.
A Health Physics Operations Lead is required to support the ISIS Radiation Protection Manager (RPM) in leading the team of Health Physics Surveyors who provide an essential operational radiation protection support programme for ISIS.
You will be responsible for managing and coordinating both Health Physics operational resources and infrastructure; handling a capability for radiation protection and radioactive waste and supporting the RPM on the management and development of the Health Physics team, including performance management, training and career development. Knowledge of health physics and radiation protection techniques would therefore be beneficial.

A flexible approach to working hours is required with possible overtime (weekend and evening work) as well as on call working, including emergency response. With this you will be required to participate in the on call rota and give a 3.7% allowance per annum for this.You will also receive an Incident Controller allowance of 1.5% per annum.
Health Physics at ISIS
The Health Physics team at ISIS undertake a number of duties, including:
* Routine and special survey measurements and checking for ionising radiation and contamination at the ISIS facility, managing and producing high-quality technical survey reports, including inputs into risk assessments and procedures and undertaking accurate record keeping
* Providing routine Health Physics cover throughout ISIS operational areas including implementation of on-the-job dose controls for persons exposed to ionising radiation
* Supporting the RPM in the daily and weekly Health Physics plans and solving any contingency work situation
* Providing assistance with and operating facilities and equipment for collecting, treating, characterising, accounting for, and disposing of waste, including those associated with decontamination
* Providing and implementing day-to-day procedures for the operation of ISIS personal dosimetry service
* Able to work in and maintain supervision for personnel working in designated radiation and contamination environments
* Supporting staff and visitors on applying radiation safety procedures
* Maintaining and checking portable and installed radiation detection equipment and emergency instruments; assisting with maintaining a stock of replacement PPE and RPE; and maintaining the respiratory equipment programme
* Ability to have a flexible approach to working hours
