JOB DESCRIPTION Passive Fire Division - Commercial Manager We are looking to add a Commercial Manager to our successful and developing business unit within the Total Protection Group of companies. The successful applicant will be responsible for the commercial management of projects for internal and external clients. In this role you will be responsible to the Senior Management team and will supervise junior members of the commercial team and support team. Main duties; Be aware and understand the companies Health and Safety procedures, promote the same to the supply chain and within the company •Ensure compliance with company procedures and policies • Managing and delegating to subordinates as required Undertaking Commercial functions; Departmental and Project budgeting, cashflow forecasting, Debtor management • Advising on procurement strategy Review contract conditions, agree recommendations with the Directors and negotiate amendments to documentation with sub-contractors and clients; • Procurement of subcontractors; • Preparing take offs and analysing costings for tenders; • Managing costs on a wide variety of projects; • Undertaking costs value analysis including cost value reporting; • Performing risk and value management and cost control; • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks; • Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports; • Price up variations and obtain agreement with clients; • Valuing works as they progress and agreeing final accounts; • Review and approve subcontract payments; • Provide commercial advice to the site team as and when required; • Assist in the development of company procedures where required; The main duties listed above are not intended to be exhaustive and may be revised in accordance with the requirements of the department and the company. Continuous improvements You will contribute to the overall running and continuous improvement of the business, along with development of the Passive Fire Division, by ensuring that the highest professional standards are maintained to continually improve the service given to Clients. This includes: • Identifying problems and offering solutions. • Ensuring the Company’s QEMS procedures are followed, and offering suggestions as to their development and improvement • Encouraging and developing teamwork both within your team and between teams, internally and externally. • Actively participating in training and continuous improvement activities for betterment of skills and safe working practices. General requirements You will be expected to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality at all times regarding the company and its Clients. You must also work efficiently and safely at all times in accordance with the appropriate training, the Company Safety Policy and HSE guidelines. Your ability to relate well with Clients and Staff and to maintain high professional standards is very important, alongside your ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner both in writing and verbally. You should demonstrate and use initiative to carry out work with minimal supervision, including the skills to prioritise and work to strict deadlines whilst being thorough and paying close attention to detail. This will be reinforced by demonstrating an enthusiastic, flexible and conscientious approach to work. Experience and Knowledge Broad experience of the Passive Fire Industry with extensive knowledge of tendering and running of projects in New Build, Refurbishment and Occupied Buildings Computer Literate in Microsoft office (Word, Excel) Knowledge and familiarity of Passive Fire Recording software (Boris, One Trace, Bolster) and process Qualifications Construction Based Degree HNC/HND (an advantage) Knowledge of Sage accounting software and reviewing of Management Accounts
