The role of Project Assistant
This role is based at Jamaica Street Project in Bristol, providing emergency accommodation for customers aged 18+ experiencing homelessness, as part of Bristol City Council’s homelessness provision.
Customers may have complex needs such as substance misuse, addiction, homelessness, trauma, and health issues. The role focuses on safety and wellbeing, supporting customers through various needs, including liaising with external services and maintaining accurate incident records. You will also prepare rooms for new occupants.

We are seeking someone with:
* Experience working with people in a customer-facing environment
* An understanding of supporting vulnerable people, possibly including lived experience of homelessness or addiction

Role Profile
The role involves supporting customers using psychologically informed and trauma-informed approaches, helping them move towards independence through various support activities, including planning, risk management, motivation, and signposting to external services.
* Assist in planning and delivering support and move-on plans
* Understand and help organize risk reviews
* Motivate customers to meet outcomes and develop life skills
* Support with day-to-day tenancy matters
* Identify and promote employment, education, and training opportunities
* Signpost to external support services
* Help customers become 'tenancy ready' and financially independent
* Monitor healthcare needs and support medication management
* Maintain accurate records on digital platforms
* Promote customer involvement and support group sessions
Deliver a Support Service
* Support referral processes for new customers
* Contribute to housing management, including income collection
* Maintain a safe environment and report repairs or safety concerns
* Prepare customer rooms
* Handle challenging situations sensitively
* Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate risks
* Maintain local partnerships for holistic support
* Perform administrative duties and update financial systems
* Assist with information returns and enquiries
Other Information
* Work flexible hours as needed
* Use Lone Worker system when necessary
* Follow policies on health & safety, safeguarding, GDPR, etc.
* Participate in meetings, supervisions, and training

Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience working with vulnerable client groups
* Experience delivering structured support in housing or social care
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn specific IT systems
