Job Title: Circular Economy Project Manager
Location: West Drayton, GB (Hybrid: 1-2 days onsite, with regular visits to partner sites across West London boroughs)
Contract: Full-Time, 36 hours per week (12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to become permanent)
Salary: £43,749 - £46,939 (inclusive of London Weighting allowance)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Circular Economy Project Manager to lead and coordinate multiple waste infrastructure and recycling projects. This role is critical to delivering the Authority’s ambitious goals in recycling quality, operational efficiency, and waste infrastructure development. With a strong focus on fostering a safety-first culture, you will ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all project-related activities.
As a key member of the Circular Economy and Net Zero team, you will collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and professional advisors to deliver projects that align with our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Safety-First Focus
* Ensure all work adheres to health and safety policies and procedures.
* Proactively manage risks to maintain a safe working environment.
* Promote and enforce a safety-first culture in all project activities.
Project Management
* Lead and coordinate multiple complex waste and recycling projects, ensuring they align with WLWA’s business plan.
* Develop and maintain project plans, waste flow plans, and project risk registers.
* Organize and manage Project Board meetings, ensuring actions and decisions are tracked and implemented.
* Collaborate across business areas, including Data-Driven Efficiency, Social Value & Reuse, and Access to Services.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Borough Partners, Defra, GLA, and other authorities.
* Coordinate responses to project actions and maintain regular communication with partners.
* Prepare and present reports to the Management Team and other stakeholders as required.
Operational and Commercial Improvements
* Identify opportunities for operational and commercial improvements, making recommendations and driving implementation.
* Support the Circular Economy Delivery Manager and Senior Project Manager in delivering organizational excellence.
Reporting and Documentation
* Prepare and present progress reports, risk assessments, and lessons learned to senior management.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date project governance documentation.
About You
We’re looking for an individual with a strong track record in project management and stakeholder engagement, ideally within the waste or environmental services sector. You should be passionate about sustainability and the circular economy, with excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Degree in engineering, environmental, or science-related discipline.
* Extensive experience managing projects and recycling services with multiple stakeholders.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation (planning, permitting, environment, waste, health & safety, procurement).
* Experience in managing budgets and operational staff, including contractors.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
* Experience in waste management within either the public or private sector.
* Knowledge of recycling markets, financial levers, and policy influences.
