Principal Planning Officer Policy
Grade 8, £41,511 up to £45,718 dependent on experience plus a £5,000 market supplement per annum pro rata, 37 hours per week, permanent contract
As the East Midlands RTPI Planning Authority of the Year winner 2024, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council strives for success. With major investment and regeneration already underway, our projects, plans for the future, development opportunities and ambitions are on another scale. The same can be said for this opportunity to join our talented and dedicated Planning Policy team.
With your proven experience in land use planning, you'll have greater scope to develop both in your role and the team of professionals that you'll manage. Positive, dynamic, and passionate about place making, you'll make a great impression on your team. In turn, you'll quickly become an important and highly valued member of our management team.
Following on from an ambitious Reg 18 draft Local Plan in 2024, you'll take the lead on moving the borough's next Local Plan forward, helping to shape the future of the borough. This will include planning for up to 18,000 dwellings across strategic sites, including planning for new settlements, employment land and associated infrastructure to 2045, and you'll be joining the Council at an exciting time to finalise and submit the Local Plan in 2026. You'll also play a key role in the wider cross-boundary strategic planning agenda across Leicestershire. With the level of planned future growth and investment, your work will be interesting and varied and provide the challenges you've been looking for.
The borough offers a wide range of urban and rural planning issues together with neighbourhood planning. The team work closely with colleagues across the wider planning service so you will be involved in a broad range of planning and regeneration projects. We will look to you for ideas to make our service better and help you capitalise on your interest to work with our local communities and other stakeholders to deliver the council's priorities.
If you feel you can meet this challenge, we would like to hear from you.
We operate a ‘hybrid working' model with a mix of office based, home and remote working available when suitable. The contractual base will be office based with agreed flexibility to work from home or at remote working locations in the borough.
Closing date: 7 April 2025
Interview dates: Weeks commencing 14 and 21 April 2025
