Do you want to make a real difference to the health of people in East Sussex? If the answer is yes, you might be well-suited to this Strategic Tobacco Lead post, which is a new exciting role working for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in partnership with the Public Health Team.
This is a great opportunity to bring about real and positive change on a health behaviour that causes a huge amount of harm in the poorest communities in East Sussex.
The postholder will be responsible for developing an inpatient Tobacco Dependency pathway and work towards creating a smoke free East Sussex and reduce smoking related harm and inequality. This will involve creating and communicating a compelling vision for East Sussex and working collaboratively with multiple organisations across the county.
This is an exciting opportunity for an existing specialist looking for a fresh opportunity to really shape this role and make it their own. You will have the freedom to innovate, being trusted to make decisions, whilst having a strong safety net of support and development.
1) Reviewing, enhancing, and embedding all aspects of the Smoke free agenda relevant to the Trust’s activities
2) Lead on the development, mobilisation, monitoring and embedding of a new In-patient Tobacco Dependence Treatment Programme, in line with the service model recommended within the NHS Long Term Plan
3) Adopt a systems leadership approach to help galvanise the culture change required to enable smoking within the Trust to be ‘everybody’s business’ and will maximise opportunities to address health inequalities. The role will involve effective multi-disciplinary and partnership working with a broad range of internal and external partners
4) Supervision of staff involved in the direct delivery of the In-patient Tobacco Dependence Treatment Programme (who would be line managed by other Trust employees).
5) Whilst the aspiration for this role is that the post-holder will split their time equally between mobilisation and co-ordination of the new In-patient Tobacco Dependence Treatment Programme and broader Smoke free work; it is recognised that in the first initial months, the role may be more weighted towards the establishment of the In-patient Tobacco Dependence Treatment Programme
A wide range of staff benefits are available to our staff including staff development, enrolment in the NHS pension scheme, auto-enrolment to our Temporary Workforce Service, access to nurseries at Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne District General Hospital, staff restaurants and on-site staff accommodation.
