Role: Temporary Works Design Engineer
Pay Rate: £400 - £500 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Huddersfield
The Temporary Works Design Engineer will:
1. Represent the design department when necessary at internal and external meetings.
2. Liaise with other departments and project teams within the Company with respect to design requirements.
3. Be the "key point of contact" when appointed as Designer on specific tasks.
4. Arrange and undertake site visits when appropriate.
5. Ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the correct procedures.
6. Prepare conceptual designs with a view to the preparation of safe, practical and economic designs according to current legislation.
7. Prepare detailed designs in accordance with current standards and codes.
8. Check the design work of other team members and external designers in accordance with departmental procedures.
9. Ensure design trackers are maintained with up to date and relevant data.
10. Identify and share opportunities for improvements to departmental processes.
11. Take a proactive approach to training and professional development.
Who are we looking for:
1. Proven experience in method related construction methods.
2. Knowledge of BS5975 and an understanding of the role of temporary works in successful project delivery.
3. Experience of working on rail projects and knowledge of NR Engineering Assurance standards and procedures.
4. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject.
5. Chartered membership of ICE and/or IStructE.
The following are desirable requirements:
1. Construction site experience.
2. Knowledge of digital construction processes.
3. Experience in training and coaching.
4. Ability to manage a team.
5. Experience of working as a CRE-D on rail projects.
