Who You Are You are an experienced minibus driver with a good standard of general education and the ability to communicate effectively in English, with Welsh being desirable. You possess a full driving license with D1 minibus entitlement, and preferably hold a MiDAS certificate and Driver CPC. With experience in working with vulnerable individuals and the ability to assess and handle situations according to Health & Safety policies, you are both a team worker and capable of working independently. Your understanding of the needs of service users, together with interpersonal skills, makes you well-suited for the role. You are committed to ongoing learning and development, ready to adapt and undertake necessary training. What the Job Involves This role as a Driver in the Transport/Adult & Community Services Department involves providing safe transport and is key in assisting service users with various impairments to their day care settings. You'll ensure the comfort and safety of passengers, manage the loading and unloading of wheelchairs, and maintain effective communication with service users and carers. Adherence to CCBC policies, and maintenance of vehicle checks and cleanliness, are critical components. You will be responsible for supporting the service users’ independence sensitively and acting in compliance with health & safety practices. Working 30 hours a week in split shifts, the role requires participation in safeguarding initiatives and support for equality of opportunity. You must be prepared for additional duties as needed to ensure departmental effectiveness and maintain good relationships internally and externally. Compliance with the data privacy and operational policies of the Authority is expected, with a commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable groups being paramount. The initial assignment is set for up to 12 weeks.
