Job summary Applications are invited to join the chest pain assessment team at Musgrove Hospital. This role would suit applicants with a nursing or paramedic background with previous cardiology experience. The service is provided over 7 days and applicants will be required to work at weekends on a rota basis. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual willing to work in a small dynamic team with strong consultant leadership. After induction you will work independently, demonstrating the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a constantly changing environment. You will be required to assess patients presenting to the Emergency Department with suspected cardiac chest pain. Formulate a diagnosis, order and interpret investigations and develop a management plan in line with local and national guidelines. You will actively participate in the development of evidence based chest pain pathways that ensure patients receive optimal care with minimum delay, you will also support the development of the rapid access chest pain clinic. Main duties of the job The role includes triaging and assessing patients who present via emergency calls, self presentation or GP referrals and expedite urgent findings to facilitate admission or discharge with appropriate onward referral or cardiology follow up. You will use advanced clinical knowledge and skills to analysis and interpret complex clinical facts ( blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, fluid balance and electrocardiograph interpretation and blood tests) acting on results. Training and support will be offered to the successful candidate to develop skills in patient assessment and non medical prescribing.
