Global Leading Non-for-Profit Nature Conservation Organisation is looking for a Lead Ruby Developer / Architect to join their team looking after their flagship product! This company helps to conserve endangered species, climate change, oceans, and natural landscapes. This role would primarily be within the remit of geospatial data and web-based mapping tools, contributing to global-scale platforms and services with Ruby.
Role – Lead Software Architect
As a Lead Ruby Architect, you will be working in a highly varied role, responsible for a combination of systems architecture tasks and software development, helping the organisation to improve their services in a bid to help the planet. You will be working on setting the technical direction, providing technical leadership, and shaping the architectural decisions to leverage the organisation's growth to provide better outcomes for wildlife. This role provides complex and challenging work but will be critical in shaping their innovation within their space.
Lead Software Architect Requirements:
1. 5+ years of Ruby Development
2. Strong experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), ArcGIS, and QGIS
3. Experience with Web Mapping (PostGIS, CartoDB)
4. Experience using GIT/Version Control
5. Experience with leading technical teams
6. Experience with JavaScript and Front End Development
7. Experience with updating software and database versions on Unix-based systems
8. Undergraduate degree in computer science (Desirable)
9. An interest in the natural world (Desirable)
