A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a newly developed Band 7 Clinical lead post within our forensic Occupational Therapy inpatient team. The Shaftesbury Clinic holds 52 beds within 4 wards including a male MSU, a male LSU, a women's MSU, and the newly developed unit for those with intellectual disabilities and autism. This Band 7 role has been created to form part of the forensic OT leadership team, providing clinical guidance and support to a team of Occupational therapists, technical instructors, clinical exercise therapists, and activity support workers. We are fortunate to have a sizeable OT team of 17 staff, allowing a broad service offering to our patient group.
We are looking for a highly skilled clinician with excellent communication skills to line manage and provide professional leadership to the OT department, participate in the development of the service through involvement in the Forensic Management Team, and coordinate the Forensic Recovery College.
Main duties of the job
The team offers individual and group interventions to support physical and mental health as part of our patient's recovery journeys. The learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental part of the OT team are led by a clinical sensory specialist OT, and we are aiming to create parity through developing a leadership role within the mental health side of our service. Both pathways are closely supported by the Deputy Head of therapies for the forensic service line. The postholder will hold a clinical caseload as well as support the team in the development of clinical pathways and evidence-based group interventions.
This post holds significant opportunity for development and innovation, while being held in the structure of a present and supportive leaderful team. The team places high value on continued professional development, with regular CPD and training opportunities.
