POSITION SUMMARY: This internship offers the right candidate an opportunity to gain vital skills in a nonprofit organization. A strong focus on customer service and administrative duties will provide foundational knowledge and skills that are applicable to an expansive list of career opportunities. The intern will assist with processing Fernwood memberships, volunteer management, special programs, office organization, point of sales, customer service, and more.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:
1. Customer Service
2. Point of sales and cash handling
3. Customer interactions and education
4. Gift shop inventory – Stocking, cleanliness, and organization
5. Fernwood history and plant knowledge
6. Volunteer appreciation and outreach administration
7. Assisting varying departments as needed
8. Membership and donor relations
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
1. Personable and friendly with a positive attitude and the ability to recognize social cues
2. Reliable by following through with commitments and arriving to work or school on time
3. Can follow verbal or written instructions
4. Can work independently or with a team
5. Comfortable asking for guidance, even if through repetition, to execute work correctly
