At LGT, we are currently seeking a highly motivated, resourceful pharmacist to join our energetic and well-motivated team to lead on the creation and provision of a Pharmacist led Biologics Hub within specialist Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
The role will involve establishing a pharmacist led hub that will centralise the prescribing of homecare medicines for dermatology, neurology, rheumatology and gastroenterology at LGT for stable patients.
The successful applicant will also contribute to the pharmacy service offered to specialist medicine at the QEH site, including representing the Trust at regional integrated medicines optimisation committee meetings, supporting the roll out of biosimilar switching programmes, participating in MDTs, engaging with commissioners, and ensuring clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs.
The ability to provide support and education to the wider clinical pharmacy team and other healthcare professionals is fundamental to this post.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to lead on the pharmacy aspects of biologic medication in the Trust, with a focus on prescribing biologics for established stable patients and facilitating timely biosimilar switches. Other aspects of the role will involve implementing policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective medication management, providing education and training to staff and patients on safe and effective medication use, and participating in research and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player with excellent problem-solving and time management skills. They will be responsible for supporting the delivery and development of a patient-focused clinical pharmacy service Trust wide; and assisting in the promotion of the cost effective use of medicines, as well as identifying and delivering drug cost savings and achievement of any national CQUIN or iURP programmes as necessary.
Applicants must be currently registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist and completed the clinical pharmacist diploma. An independent prescribing qualification or working towards one is essential. Successful candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to engage with key stakeholders throughout the Trust. The post-holder must be able to represent the Trust at relevant offsite network or regional meetings as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Job Summary:
* To be responsible for the coordination and delivery of a responsive, proactive, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to clinical Divisions across the Trust within defined area.
* To act as a role model and provide a consistently high standard of pharmaceutical service to patients in line with the Trust and Departmental objectives.
* To be the main pharmacy contact for Dermatology and Neurology within the clinical divisions.
* To support Dermatology and Neurology in managing their drugs budget. Support service development that involves medicines or pharmacy services in these directorates.
* To provide operational and clinical support to the pharmacy department as dictated by the needs of the clinical pharmacy service across the Trust.
* To deputise for the Principal Pharmacist for the respective site.
Key Result Areas & Performance:
Clinical Services and Patient Care
* To participate in the ‘front-line’ provision of Pharmacy Services as appropriate.
* To be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacist independent prescriber.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
* B. Pharm / M. Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or equivalent.
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Postgraduate Diploma in either Clinical Pharmacy or General Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).
* Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.
* Management/Leadership courses i.e. Edward Jenner, Mary Seacole.
Experience
* Substantial post registration experience in hospital clinical pharmacy or equivalent relevant area of practice.
* Demonstrable experience in supervising others.
* Demonstrable experience of managing staff/teams.

* Demonstrable experience of protocol/guideline development.
