Instrument Technician
Location: Southampton
Rate: £35-£40 per hour Self Employed
Hours: 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Overtime: Time and a half & double time available
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Instrument Technician to carry out maintenance work on a oil and gas project. This role involves the inspection, calibration, fault-finding, and maintenance of instrumentation systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform planned and reactive maintenance on instrumentation systems.
Inspect, calibrate, and repair flow, pressure, temperature, and level control instruments.
Troubleshoot faults and system failures to minimize downtime.
Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and site procedures.
Work closely with engineers and site teams to maintain high safety and performance standards.
Experience & Qualifications
Recognised Instrumentation / Electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
COMPEX certification (advantageous).
Previous experience working in a refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment.
Strong understanding of hazardous area classifications and safety procedures.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs.
